Books and Beyond is a yearlong recreational reading program which aims to motivate children to read for fun and help families learn to moderate their screen time by focusing on the value of reading time. It is fun for students to compete against themselves and others to see who makes it to all the monthly goals.
Students log their reading on a record sheet (digital for 2020-21), which is reviewed and approved by our principal, Ms. Suzanne Socha.
Welcome to the 2020/2021 Books and Beyond reading program! Due to the unexpected stop to last year’s program, any participants from last year will receive a NUT (No Uniform Today) card soon as recognition of their efforts this month.
The Books and Beyond reading program will run from November 1, 2020 – April 30, 2021. This year’s theme theme is “Kindness Counts”, in which students are encouraged to focus on books that explore the role kindness plays in our everyday lives.
This is an optional program, yet highly encouraged! Students who read a total of 300 minutes per month for 6 months (November, December, January, February, March and April) will have completed the program. Those who complete the program will be recognized by the school with a special event.
In order to complete the program, a student needs to:
