The science curriculum at SJA continues to adapt to meet the challenges of our 21st century learners. The SJA science program begins in Pre-k and encourages our students to be curious, independent, scientifically informed citizens. Students learn from an early age to question the world around them and apply critical thinking skills. Students research, experiment, and apply strategies and skills in their quest for knowledge. Our schools enthusiasm for science continues to grow!
Saint John’s Academy, in accordance with the Archdiocese of Newark, identifies four overall guidelines in science instruction:
- Incorporation of the social teachings of the Catholic Church
- Inclusion of technology in topic, method, and/or assessment
- Planning and implementation of varied assessment
- Integration of science through interdisciplinary units
