Admissions

Saint John’s Academy admits students who show evidence of their ability to succeed in the school’s academic program. Parents who wish to seek admission for their children should make a formal application to register

Registration Requirements

Children entering kindergarten must be five (5) years of age by October 1, 2020. Students will be conditionally accepted into kindergarten with full acceptance contingent on displayed readiness on the Kindergarten Entrance Test. At the time of registration, all new students (grades 1-8) seeking admission to Saint John’s Academy are evaluated on the basis of several criteria including results of placement tests, standardized test scores, and report cards. These will be reviewed to determine whether the program at Saint John’s Academy will meet the educational needs of the student.  An interview with parent(s)/guardian(s) and the student is part of the admission process.

Priority

As openings become available, the following priorities will be used to accept students:
  1. Siblings
  2. Members of a RCAN (Roman Catholic Archdiocese of Newark) parish
  3. Non-Catholic students

Special Conditions

If special conditions should be considered in reviewing the student’s application, parents must provide the school with the pertinent data, i.e., most current educational evaluation, psychological evaluation, and social history assessment. Failure to reveal conditions that could affect the student’s full participation in the school’s educational program or the satisfactory completion of graduation requirements will be grounds for the school to withdraw any offer of admission.

Nondiscriminatory Policy

Saint John’s Academy admits students of any race, color, and national or ethnic origin to all the rights, privileges, programs, and activities generally accorded or made available to students of the school. It does not discriminate on the basis of race, color, national or ethnic origin in the administration of its educational policies, admission policies, or athletic and other school-administered programs.
